Mary Hennessy

M.A. CCC-SLP

Mary knew she wanted to work with kids and teach for as long as she can remember. Receiving both her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders and her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, she has experience working with a wide range of communication disorders and clinical expertise in working with pediatrics and early intervention. Mary’s special interests include pediatric feeding disorders, hearing loss, expressive and receptive language delays, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and phonological disorders.

Mary enjoys teaching through play and naturally building communication skills into children and their families’ everyday lives and routines. In her opinion, there is no better feeling than seeing a child with a smile on their faces after mastering a difficult speech sound or watching their confidence grow with peers in social settings.

Mary has a special interest in feeding treatment, from increasing the food repertoire of picky eaters to helping children develop oral-motor skills to promote safe chewing and swallowing. She has experience using the SOS feeding approach, food chaining, and working with families to promote productive, healthy, and safe meal time habits. Mary also has experience in bottle and breastfeeding consultation, managing aspiration risks with thickened liquids, and safely expanding the diets of children with food allergies and intolerances.

In her spare time, Mary enjoys spending time at the beach, traveling with her husband, and enjoying good food with friends.

Sara Gaeta

MS. CCC-SLP

Sara received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences Disorders at the University of New Hampshire and her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology at MGH Institute of Health Professions. She has experience working with a wide range of communication disorders in various settings; early intervention, elementary school, and high school settings.

Sara’s mission as a Speech Language Pathologist is to empower parents and guardians in supporting their child’s communication abilities, so that the child can be a successful member of the community. She believes there is no better feeling than watching a family grow stronger together; leaving the parents feeling confident in their skills and watching the light bulb moment, when a child finally masters a skill that he/she had been working so hard on. Sara creates a fun and safe learning environment to encourage the children to feel supported when learning a new skill and when making mistakes. Sara also incorporates mindfulness techniques to help support the child’s emotional and attentional regulation.

Sara’s special interests include expressive and receptive language delays, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, phonological disorders, phonological awareness/literacy development, and social-emotional learning. She has specialized training in the Parents Interacting with Infants “PIWI” model (an early intervention model that focuses on the parent-child relationship) and the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program for Reading, Spelling, and Speech (LiPS).

In her spare time, Sara enjoys spending time in New Hampshire with her boyfriend and two golden retrievers, traveling with friends and photography.
